HOMEMADE ICED LATTE RECIPE

HOMEMADE ICED LATTE RECIPE

One hot summer afternoon at the office, we decided to play barista and concoct ourselves a refreshing drink. Using only ice cubes and milk, we transformed an everyday espresso into an Iced Latte! Because it makes a very good espresso with a light crema, we called our beautiful Rocket Espresso Appartemento to the task. We then grabbed our handy shaker, mixed it all together, and in a few quick movements, it was ready to be tasted! Since we loved it so, we wanted to be kind and share our recipe : )

Ingredients

  • 3 espressos
  • 230 ml of milk (or 1 coffee cup full, or as you desire)
  • 6 ice cubes

Equipment

  • 1 shaker or blender
  • 1 large glass
  • A glass bottle

1 - Prepare three espressos

2 - Put the ice cubes into the shaker or blender and pour in the hot espressos

Tip: If you prefer it on the sweeter side, add two teaspoons of sugar

3- Pour the mixture into a tall glass and add as much milk as you desire

4- Serve immediately. Enjoy !

Our opinion:

Iced Latte is THE refreshing and gourmet drink of summer, without being too high in calories. During the hotter months of the year, we drink a lot of it by the pool or under the cool shade of a palm tree.

Gourmet lovers’ bonus:

To turn your iced latte into a creamy and cold summer treat, add a scoop of ice cream (vanilla, coffee or praline flavoured for example), then add some whipped cream, a streak or two of caramel and top it all off by sprinkling on some crumbs from your favourite cookies. After that, just sit back and enjoy ...

WHICH SPECIALTY COFFEES FOR THE ICED LATTE RECIPE?

If you want this recipe to turn out great, choose an equally fabulous specialty coffee! We used an espresso coffee, but you’ll usually find the type of recommended extraction indicated on the packaging. To help you choose, here are a few tips:

Ethiopia: The tropical fruit and strawberry notes of Ethiopian coffee naturally sweeten your milk drinks.

Colombia: Colombian coffee has body. It reveals all its potential in espresso, but can also appeal to palates sensitive to potential acidity in a milk-based recipe.

Brasil: Brasilian coffees are famous for their very low acidity, sweetness, and nut-like notes. You can use it without hesitation in your milk-based preparations.

Peru: Peruvian coffee is recognised for its aromatic complexity. Don't be surprised to find tones of exotic fruits, liquorice or vanilla in your Iced Latte.
